Winona-Ryder
Winona Ryder (born Winona Laura Hornowitz) was born in Winona Minnesota. The parents of Winona Ryder chose her name after the town she grew up in. Both her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder is Jewish. Ryder believes that her father came from a Jewish background. Uria is Ryder's younger sister. Jubal, Sunyata and Sunyata are her half-siblings. Ryder and her family moved to California's Mendocino County, when Ryder was seven. At the time, there were no electric lights. Ryder was a voracious read and often spent her time reading books because there was no TV. Ryder started taking acting classes at American Conservatory Theatre when she reached the age of 12. In 1986 she landed her first role on the big screen in the movie Lucas at just fifteen years old. Ryder experienced bullying at high school. Ryder believed that if she became an actor, her behavior would be changed. But, unfortunately, that didn't happen. However, she was determined to pursue the dreams she had. Her biggest break was in 1988 when she appeared in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder continued to play numerous roles that were successful. In 1993, she was awarded an Oscar Awards in the film The Age of Innocence.
