Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine is an enigmatic musician, singer and actor. He blends soul gospel jazz with R&B for a distinctive mixture. She's performed on Broadway and during the Democratic National Convention and in the European clubs and festivals. Sunshine was born Denise White. She is originally from Chester Pennsylvania, where she started her musical career by playing piano and singing in the church. She was a student at Spellman College in Atlanta where she started her musical apprenticeship in Atlanta's R&B scene. In 2005, she was commissioned as the primary keyboardist in Tyler Perry's stage play Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday, a Grammy as well as Tony Award winning vocalist who had worked on the stage production Dreamgirls in the National Black Arts Festival of Atlanta in 2007, contacted her to be the choir leader of this theatrical production. Sunshine became the focus of interest during four consecutive shows at the 2008 Democratic National Convention and was subsequently invited to sing at the Obama's inauguration ceremony in 2009.
